"Why don't we go to the petting section first." By suggested. He stage whispered into Aral's ear, "You know how the little kids are. Gotta keep them busy and tire them out so we elders can have our fun." Louder, he continued, "Who wants me to buy animal food so you can feed the animals in the petting zoo?"
Helen whispered to Kareen, "I think we should feed Aral to them maybe it'll slow him down." They both snickered as Aral turned around overhearing them and stuck his tongue out. He turned back around and walked backwards in front of By.
"I know, I know Uncle By. We should see the bears. Right Xav?"
"Well Kareen and I want to see the monkeys," said Helen.
"Who wants to see monkeys, they're lame."
"You're right, we don't need to GO see the monkeys we can just watch you." Helen and Kareen started laughing.
Jankowski looked reprovingly at Helen but couldn't help himself. As he tried to cover a laugh Aral looked up and gave him a frown. "You're no help Janki."
"I'm sorry my lord." He looked at By. "Might I suggest, sir, that we just make a complete circle of the park starting here on the left."
"I wanna see the big kitties!" Kareen growled the way she imagined a big cat would.
"It's unnatural to go to the left first. We should go right." By gave a half laugh that was almost a giggle. "First things first. Before we leave this area, do we have enough S-N-A-C-K-S and enough..." he pushed his arms in front of him indicating a stroller, a word he not want to use out of respect for the children who considered themselves quite old enough to walk, but might tire after a goodly part of the zoo.
Jankowski leaned down toward Byerly, "Well sir, I only suggested the left because both the large cats and the monkeys are on that side."
Janksowski, feeling like he was off to go camping as he was loaded down with so many bags mostly containing water and snacks, though the children didn't know it, only nodded at Byerly's question about snacks though when he mentioned strollers Jankoswki sighed, "I'll be right back sir."
He went and got two strollers for Lord Aral and Lady Helen and, because he didn't want the children to think that they were for them, put the bags in them for now. When he returned Aral turned around and started laughing, "What are those for Janki are you getting tired all ready?"
"Oh you know me Lord Aral, my back is not as strong as it once was. It must be from carrying you around everywhere." At this he picked up Aral and tickled him.
"Janki put me down, hahaha, let go, hahaha, it tickls to much, hahaha."
"Oh, very well." Jankowski placed Aral back on the ground and nodded to Byerly to proceed.
"Okay lets be democratic about the whole thing. It will like a Council of Counts vote." By moved to stand in front of the children facing them. "Everyone who wants to go that way, left" he pointed to the left, "turn and face left. And everyone who wants to go that way, right," he pointed the other direction, "turn and face right."
"I want to go right!" Isabel declared out of loyalty to By. Then stage whispered, "Make sure we see the frogs, Uncle By."
Aral looked at Isabel, "Frogs, ha, I want to see the lions." He turned to the left and looked toward Xav for some support.
Kareen looked around and then at Aral at his declaration, "Well I want to go the opposite way that Aral does." She turned toward the right and smiled at Isabel and back around at Aral who was snarling at her and stuck her tongue out at him.
Aral turned to Jankoswki, "Your turn Janki which way do you want to go with her or to see the kitties."
Jankowski thought about it, knowing that whatever way he chose the other child would get upset and since he had to go home with them today....He stood where in the middle and raised his chin choosing no side. "You will just have to petition your case to Prince Xav and Princess Kareen to decide."
Aral looked to Xav, "Please Xav...please."
ooc: I think we should all nudge matt or email matt or something to get his attention or we'll be in trouble when it gets time to have Miles, that and it'll leave Roic stuck in whatever district they went to.
*putting on her best grown-up voice* "You know, Aral, the zoo is round. We'll get to see them all anyway. You don't have to be impatient like a little kid." Isabel pauses to let this sink in, then declares, "A Vor gent'man would let the ladies decide." Isabel follows this up with a sunny smile at both Aral and Xav.
Isabel adds even more craftily, "'Sides, they're poison frogs. People on Terra shoot people with their skin and they die." She delivers this last piece of information in dramatic low tones.
"Poison frogs, really? Wait..." He looked skeptically at Isabel and then at By. "Really are they poison frogs if they are I want to see them first."
Helen rolled her eyes and muttered under her breath, "And with any luck..."
"Lady Helen." Janksowski said with a reproving glance. Eliciting a snicker out of her. He looked at Byerly, "Sir, I suggest we get a move on or it will be dark before we leave and I have strict orders to get them home before dark on pain of m'lord and m'lady's 'ingenuity'. And I for one do not wish to find out what it may be if this...," he swept a glance over the children, "..is an example of what might be everyday."
"Really really poison frogs, Aral. There's a sign all about it." Isabel paused, then added, "My word as Vorrutyer." This was said grandly, and an adult listening might be inclined to laugh, but there was a flash in her eye and a lift of her dainty chin.
"They really are poisoned frogs," By said, "But the thing that's got me most interested at the moment is the balloon seller just down that way." He pointed off to the right where there was a balloon stand. "And should be happen to pass it, and should some people happen to want balloons, well, anything can happen. So are we decided then? Right! March!" He turned to the right and started marching in a parody of the formal imperial march step.
Aral turned toward By, "...Baloons?..." His eyes looked down the way trying to see them and then at Jankowski. "Janki I want a baloon." Jankowski waited paitently for Aral to be polite. "Janki may I have a baloon please?"
Jankowski smiled, "Why certainly m'lord. Why don't we all go over this way then." He nodded at Byerly silently blessing him for this tactical idea and not causing Aral to have a fit.
ooc: sorry I forgot who posted last lol
Isabel smiled and took her uncle's hand. "May I have a balloon, Uncle By?"
"Of course, my lady. Maybe we should all get balloons." The group started moving towards the balloon stands, "What color balloon would you like Jankowski? You strike me as a basic blue sort of guy."
ankoswki looked at By, usure what the comment was supposed to mean. Miles had warned him that Byerly had an evil sense of humor, so to speak. "None for me, thank you sir. But perhaps the blue baloon would suit you rather better." He turned his attention toward the children. "Lord Aral what color baloon do you want?"
Aral looked up and tried not to seem to ecstatic, the effect failed as his eyes glinted. "Oh red is fine I guess."
"And you Lady Helen?"
Helen grinned at her brother who was trying to act older. "I'll take your blue one Janki."
Jankoswki smiled at Helen and leaned down toward the two. "Your mother gave me some extra marks. Perhaps if we all are good I'll get us some ice cream." He winked at them and Helen giggled. "After the frogs I might suggest we go see the snakes. I hear they have some very rare species indeed." This earned a glower from Helen who was afraid of snakes but a smile from Aral who jumped up and cheered but on the way down he fell. "Careful m'lord. Your mother would be right mad at me if I brought you home broken."
"Blue is a good Vorrutyer color, but am I good Vorrutyer?" He pointed at a zany striped balloon with orange, yellow, blue, and green stripes. "This would be much more me. I think. Isabella? Xav? Kareen? What colors would you like?"
"I'd like the blue one with pink polka dots, please," said Isabella with a sunny smile.
By nodded to the balloon seller who started filling the requests, handing a red balloon to Aral, a blue one to Helen, and the pink polka-dotted blue balloon to Isabella. "What else?" he asked to no one in particular.
